If you plan on visiting New York City this holiday season, you might want to look into the Kevin McCallister experience at The Plaza. Home Alone 2: Lost in New York is celebrating its 25th anniversary and to celebrate Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment and The Plaza are partnering up for the ultimate holiday experience. I grew up loving this holiday movie so when I was asked if I wanted to get a taste of the experience I accepted the invite with a quickness!
Guests and I were treated to a screening of Home Alone 2 at the Paris Theater, located right across the street from The Plaza. The sound of the opening credits was so nostalgic, instantly reminding me of the times my younger brother and I would watch this movie. It was everything I remembered the movie to be, except this time I was watching as a New Yorker, recognizing all the sights.
Remember that scene where Kevin goes to town in a limo stocked with pizza? In true Kevin McCallister way, we were greeted with pizza on our way out of the theater! It was quite the surprise and my inner child was squealing! After the movie we made our way across the street to The Plaza Food Hall, filled with food counters and fine food purveyors.
We were treated to a lunch at Todd English where the menu was a homage to the 90’s! Part of the Kevin McCallister Experience includes a throwback menu that features SpaghettiOs, gourmet hot pockets, Charcuterie Lunchables, Funyun Rings, and Sunny-D and Zima inspired cocktails.
The food isn’t exactly what you’d expect them to be upon hearing the menu. Instead they’re an elevated version of your favorites (and quite tasty too!). The older kids (21+) also got to enjoy adult punch packed into a Caprisun-like pouch, SunnyTE, and Zimas. The event was a great start to the holiday season!
