I’ve attended my first IMATS thanks to Mehron Cosmetics! IMATS is the International Make-up Artist Tradeshow, where thousands of make-up artists, exhibitors, and enthusiasts gather to discuss, demonstrate, display and collect the best the beauty industry has to offer, and this year the tradeshow was held at Pier 94. Mehron invited me to Pro Night where I learned more about their products and got to check out what IMATS had to offer before the general public. I played with and swatched some of Mehron’s cult favorites including the Celebre Contour Palette and experienced first hand how their mixing liquid elevates their metallic powders (see two gold swatches below: top is without mixing liquid almost appears sheer, bottom with mixing liquid is literally liquid gold).
After meeting with Mehron, I bee-lined to all the brands I wanted to check out. Here’s a look at some of the booths and their offerings!
Some of the deals that was happening over at Sigma
AMA – Artist Makeup Academy‘s clothing line was the cutest!
Crimes of Beauty was also selling quirky attire and mugs!
This Jouer kit was selling for $25 and $300 fully stocked!
Anastasia Beverly Hills actually had Anastasia herself taking pictures with attendees! Here’s a look at their prices for the show.
I didn’t get a chance to look at what Mehron had given me in my goody bag until I got home and I was SO thrilled to see what they had given me! Lip Color Cream Night palette, Eye & Cheek palette, Celebre Pro-HD Cream 12-color highlight & contour palette, Celebre Pro HD Loose Mineral Finishing Powder, Mixing Liquid and Gold Metallic Powder, and Barrier Spray! I can’t wait to get a chance to play around with these!
The following products I purchased myself — I initially was only in the market to purchase one or two brushes since I’m currently on a no-buy but that obviously didn’t happen. I intended to pick up Anastasia’s Brow Wiz but instead they packed me a Brow Definer and I didn’t realize this till I got home — Do yourself a favor and always check to see if these brands packed the right products before you leave!
I’m currently going through a cream lipstick phase so when I came across Jouer’s version, I picked two up! They’re neutral colors with hints of pink and were creamy when I swatched them.
Over at Sigma I purchased the small brush cleaning mat ($20, normally $25); I had received a mini mini version at an event and actually really liked having it. I also purchased the F77 contour brush ($17, normally $22) and later swapped it in for the Highlight & Contour Set ($45), that includes the F77 along with F23 ($24) and F03 ($19). With my purchased I received a free F45 Buffer ($28, but on sale for $19.60)!
Also purchased a variety pack of Brush Guards ($10, normally $12.95)! I had seen these before online and in a few other places and figured, why not? I’ve been lazy with figuring out a way to hang my brushes upside down as they dry so now’s the time to buy something that will help with that. They just released a new color: Graphite! Definitely plan on using these soon and will review them shortly!
I also picked up a small Parian Water ($5) to try as this is something that I’ve always wanted to try but just never found myself purchasing. At this point, I’m buying more products than I intended and there’s no stopping!
I’ve been searching for a new brush set that wouldn’t set me back a couple hundred dollars and I found myself really liking the Royal & Langnickel brushes once I saw them in person. I picked up the 12-piece Patience brush kit from the ‘Love Is..’ collection ($30, normally $59.99) and I’m really enjoying the colors and how soft the brushes are!
After I had purchased everything I needed and then some, I had a few minutes left to walk the floor before the show was over for the day. I’m glad I walked by BH Cosmetics and was drawn to their brush sets! What surprised me was that for $16, these brushes were incredibly soft and it came in a traveling container — so naturally, I decided to buy that set too. The set I got is the 12-piece Studded Couture (normally $22). There were a handful of other brush sets available as well that came with the container or without it. I also ended up getting sold on buying a $6 contour palette because.. well it was only $6!
For those of you who are attending the IMATS this weekend, have an amazing time! I hope this post helped give you some insight as to what some of the brands are selling and their sale prices. Thanks again to Mehron for allowing me the chance to attend!
