Live Octupus + Clean Sweep

It’s exactly a month since I’ve left my home in Vegas for life in the “Big Apple” and so far, all is well.  I’ve just completed my internship with Social Radius & have just gotten an offer for an internship in the city with an international marketing/advertising/pr company :)

This past weekend some friends & I went to a Korean restaurant, Sik Gaek.  You might’ve actually seen this spot on Anthony Bourdain’s show, No Reservations, which featured live octopus.  Yeah, seriously, LIVE OCTOPUS!  It was weird watching all their tentacles still moving on the plate but what was even more crazy was our 2nd dish which actually had the entire live octopus on it.. still squirming!  It was quite tasty, especially since I had to make sure I thoroughly chewed that sucker (pun intended).  Another tasty treat was the watermelon soju that was served out of a carved out watermelon half!  I couldn’t even taste the soju because it was so delicious.

On Saturday we spent the ENTIRE day cleaning out the spare room to make it into a walk in closet/office.  I’m not even sure when was the last time Ray had gone through that room but it had been awhile since we ran into a lot of his childhood memories from middle school, ex-girlfriends, photos, ticket stubs, etc.  It was really interesting!  Unfortunately there aren’t any pictures yet of the room because it’s still a little messy and it’s not quite done yet.

On Sunday, since it was a nice day, we went ahead and walked around the city.  First stop was shopping in SoHo since we had gift cards & what not to get off our hands.  While looking for the MAC store, we ran into DASH!  DASH is that Kardashian retail store and I was actually surprised to see that there was a line of girls waiting outside to go inside?  It was weird, but I’m sure that store gets A LOT of foot traffic since the Kardashians are just so popular.  We also attempted to snack at Shake Shack inside Madison Square Park, but that line was ridiculous & we were starving so we moved on.  It was such a nice day out that day that we didn’t mind walking around for another spot to eat at :D
