Earlier this morning, my Sisters (yes, I’m in a sorority) and I took part in the 5k Walk for MS at Town Square.
WHAT IS MS? For those of you who don’t know, Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic, and often disabling disease that attacks the central nervous system, consisting of the brain, spinal cord, and optic nerves. While symptoms may be mild, including numbness in the limbs, they can often be very severe, causing paralysis and even a loss of vision. People are affected by MS differently and thus symptoms are very unpredictable.
In supporting organizations such as these, we are supporting the creation of new treatments and advances in research to help give hope to those who may have lost hope. Living in a country full of rights, we also live in a country where rights and privileges are not always guaranteed. While we have the privilege to control our own movement, others are not as fortunate. If you would like to donate, you may do so through here! To learn about the MS Walk, click here.
It was great to see a bunch of people from the community as well as UNLV take part in a great cause. I was anticipating it to be freezing cold & raining so I bundled up. To our luck, the sun was shining and it was warm out.. but it wasn’t like that for long. After the walk, the team & I went to Egg Works for brunch. If you haven’t been to any of the Egg Works locations, you’re missing out! This morning was just great times 🙂
