Coming from a marketing degree, I’m obviously all about marketing and advertisement and what brands are doing today to capture and retain an audience. A trend that I’ve noticed (and have fallen into myself ) are influencer programs aimed at social media’s most influential personalities. You’ve more than likely have come across these programs.. Klout being the most popular as it ranks your social influence & based on topics that you’ve covered in the social sphere, you can be ‘awarded’ perks. These perks range from discounts to freebies and even to invite-only events. Influenster is another program that I’m fond of. Based on the badges earned (badges can be gained after taking a survey) you can then be elligible to receive a box full of treats that pertains to the badge for free. Of course nothing is ever really free so in exchange, you agree to take a survey on the products and write blogs, promote the brand on your Facebook & Twitter, and then just recommend/or not recommend the product to your friends & family. It’s programs like these that have taken marketing to a whole other level.
I’ve recently been recruited into People Magazine’s StyleWatch Style Hunters and this post will most likely have all the goodies I’ve received from the program. To get a better idea at how this program works, I’ve found an article that helps explain it 🙂
I’ve already got some goodies in the mail waiting to be delivered to me, so stay tuned to see what those are!
The first perk that I was able to receive was Revlon’s ‘Just Bitten Kissable’ balm stain. I was really thrilled when receiving this in the mail (it almost felt like Christmas) because I LOVE these lip balms/stains. The stain came in the trendy coral color & moisturized my lips!
During the week of October 15, 2012, I received DiorShow Mascara from Dior & Style Watch! I haven’t tried Dior mascara yet but I’ve used some of the Dior HydraLife skincare products (which I love) so this was exciting. This is the mascara that I’ve been using over the weekend. At first I was a little underwhelmed at how they looked on my lashes but after trying this on for a 2nd and 3rd day, I have to say that I like the mascara. The mascara brush is truly XXL (like they have been advertising). I like it, but I’m not sure if I could use this mascara by itself. These past few times I’ve been doubling it up with either Maybelline’s Illegal Legnth Mascara or Buxom Aplified Lash Mascara. I guess you can say I like it enough not to throw away.
