About twice a year, I look forward to Spa Week. It’s when spas and salons offer $50 treatments for the week. These treatments range from massage and facials, to hair coloring and even botox. What I like about Spa Week the most is that I’m able to experience a spa/salon that I haven’t been to yet without having to initially shell out a few hundred dollars. I’ve blogged about previous Spa Weeks here and here.
For this past Spa Week I decided to combine a few treatments into the same day for a full day of relaxation!
For my first treatment of the day I decided to go to Elizabeth Arden’s Red Door Spa at Union Square. The Red Door is the first spa I always try to book when Spa Week rolls around. The spa is so luxurious and relaxing and the treatments that are offered are my favorite to look forward to. The Red Door usually books out quickly so if you’re able to snag a spot during Spa Week, consider yourself lucky!
The treatment I opted for is called the Destress Melter Ritual: Olive oil skin softening scrub, plus aroma therapeutic body wrap and massage, melt stress and rebalance spirit. This treatment is an hour long and is normally priced at $255. Not bad for $50!
The woman who did my treatment was the sweetest. She explained what to expect during the treatment and even gave me an option as to what essential oils I wanted to be taking in. After being scrubbed and wrapped, she left me to relax and nap while the oils moisturized and sunk into my skin. After a few minutes she returned to give me a shoulder massage and the treatment was complete! So incredibly relaxing — this Spa Day of mine was starting off nicely!
My next treatment brought me down to Haven Spa for their Geek Massage. This spa had recently moved into a new location and I was excited to finally get a chance to see the new space and to try their massages (previously went here for their pedicures). Their new space is beautiful and so chic!
There was a bit of a snafu prior to arriving at the spa. I had gotten a call while at Red Door about my masseuse calling out sick for the day and the spa said that they had found another masseuse to give the treatment. When I had arrived, changed out into one of their robes, and sat waiting in their waiting space it seemed as though maybe it wasn’t completely figured out. I had preferred a female masseuse and instead they gave me a male. Not a problem, I just wanted my treatment at this point — my shoulders needed them badly!
The Geek massage was alright — nothing memorable or exciting to report. This massage usually is priced at $145 and include the use of t-spheres. During my Spa Week Geek Massage, there was no use of t-spheres or any aromatherapy. The masseuse did focus of my shoulders and upper back for a majority of the massage — as described by the description they have on their website. I probably wouldn’t come back to this spa for this treatment.
Right after my massage at Haven Spa I walked over to West Village to the Sisley Paris boutique for a facial. I was most looking forward to this treatment because it was my first time seeing Sisley Paris on the list of spas and salons participating at Spa Week. The boutique was so very cute and quaint and had all their products displayed. I was told by the gentleman who checked me in the everything was custom made for the boutique, including the wallpaper. I fell in love with how elegant the store was!
Upon entering the treatment room in the back of the boutique, there was a skylight that let in natural light and the same beautiful wallpaper was on the walls along with pearlescent tiles, SO PRETTY! The bed was soft & warm! I loved that the esthetician didn’t talk throughout the facial and really allowed me to relax and enjoy it. I was so relaxed I started to doze off! The treatment was so luxurious I still can’t believe its part of Spa Week. This treatment was hands down my favorite! After the facial they showed me what products had been used on my face and didn’t push for a sale. A few weeks after my treatment, I had received a handwritten note thanking me for coming in! Incredible treatment and customer service!
I’m so glad that I was introduced to Sisley Paris during this Spa Week and I hope that they’ll be participating in the next Spa Week to come. If not, I’m hearing that if you spend a certain amount in the boutique you’ll receive a complimentary facial which is worth every penny, plus you’ll get product. The next time Spa Week comes around should be in the Fall so keep an eye out for those deals!
