Hello! I hope your holiday weekend is amazing and filled with good food & loved ones! I stayed in the city for this Thanksgiving and it was a bit non-traditional this year; we food & bar crawled throughout downtown Manhattan. As with any other holiday, the city was quiet as the usual hustle and bustle made their way out to families outside of NYC. The day after Thanksgiving I traveled out to visit back home to Vegas — traveling on actual holidays can get a bit tricky so I love being able to visit around this time.
Here are a few highlights from my trip back home!
Afternoon Tea at Mandarin Oriental
One of the highlights so far includes having afternoon tea with grandma and the family at Mandarin Oriental’s Tea Lounge! The view is stunning from the tea lounge and the teas and treats were, not only delicious, but really pretty to look at. We chose three teas to share among five people: Mandarin Blossom (a green tea and signature tea of Mandarin Oriental), Thunderbolt Darjeeling (black tea), and a Jasmine Green Oolong. If you’re curious to see what treats you’re entitled to for their afternoon tea, here’s the menu. I recommend making reservations if you’re planning on visiting, we had the 12p seating and all spaces were filled!
Barre3 Las Vegas
I was having an intense internal debate — to work out or not work out. I get anxious to attend a class at a new studio. I usually combat this by attending with a friend or gathering enough courage to go by myself. I was able to convince myself to try Barre3 in Henderson thanks to ClassPass’ flex city option (ClassPass gives its members access to studios that are a part of their network in other cities that participate in ClassPass, encouraging you to keep being active while traveling).
The Henderson studio is beautiful with similar amenities as the West Village studio I’m so used to. The only addition the Henderson studio has is child care right inside the studio. An awesome option for those with little ones. My instructor was Kirstin and she was so welcoming — in fact, the studio owner, staff, and members were so friendly as we chatted about the NYC studio and city life vs life in Vegas. I’m so glad I forced myself out of my comfort zone; I’m now sore from the class!
This post will be updated throughout my stay in Vegas, stay tuned! For a real-time look at what I’m up to, I’m posting on IG Stories @MarielMendoza.
Till next time.. ♥Mariel
