Ray and I made our way to Sonoma County, Healdsburg to be exact, for the D+D wedding! Healdsburg is just about 1.5 hours north from San Francisco so before hopping on the road, we grabbed dinner at Ha Nam Ninh. The popular dish at this Vietnamese establishment is #25 dry topped with a fried egg and that’s just what I got.
After dinner, we made our way up to Healdsburg to catch the rest of our family before calling it a night. It was dark by the time we got to our Arbor Bench rental and it was quite an adventure trying to find the house. There was no cellular reception making our use of Google Maps or Waze useless and the directions given by the rental included barn colors that we couldn’t see since it was so dark out. We must have driven back and forth on that one road about five times until we were able to find our rental! It may have been a good thing that we didn’t have service there and that wifi was a bit spotty at times — it truly was family time well spent!
Our rental consisted of a Main House and a Guest House, comfortable to fit our three families. The homes are cozy and there are vineyards directly next to the houses. They were perfect for our weekend getaway!
D+D’s Wedding Day
The next day was full of wedding festivities. D+D got married at a nearby park, followed by a reception at Healdsburg Shed. The wedding was beautiful and the weather couldn’t have been any more perfect. The reception was fun! A neat bit about the venue was when food was being served, a side wall opened up to the kitchen allowing everyone to get a glimpse at the plates being put together.
The day after the wedding
The day after the wedding was our check out day – it was such a quick trip! Before leaving Healdsburg, we stopped at the general store for lunch. The Dry Creek General Store was established in 1881 and serves as a gathering place with carry out food, homewares for sale, and a garden.
Healdsburg is the cutest place and though it was a quick weekend, I enjoyed spending time with family out in wine country!
