I can happily say that I’ve been married for one month! I’m still riding on that ‘wedding-bliss’ and I’m so thrilled to finally be able to share pictures from our special day.
Not tied to a specific date for our wedding, we agreed at the beginning of the year to have Ray’s parents find out what our “special day” would be to get married. Ideally the wedding would’ve been in during fall, either in September or October but as luck would have it, our special day came to be May 1, 2017. We had learned of this date just a few days before we went on our Disney World trip in February! Too excited for our trip, we decided to fully enjoy our trip and push wedding planning to after we had returned from Disney.
When we returned back home we got to planning. Because we were limited with time to plan, we decided on an intimate ceremony at City Hall with immediate family and close friends. I already had a dress in mind thanks to the brief time that I browsed wedding dresses and was able to hire a dress designer to create my wedding dress. Ray had returned to one of his favorite custom suit designers to create his suit for the wedding. Shortly after we had booked our photographers, Forged In The North. Those were essentially the three most important aspects of our wedding and with a month and a half away, we were grateful that we were able to make it work.
Two weeks away from May 1st and at the “last minute” we decided to have our intimate ceremony at Bethesda Fountain inside Central Park, followed by cocktails and snacks at The Ribbon and a banquet-style dinner. While it sounds like it was a piece of cake to switch venues and plans, it was pretty difficult! One of Ray’s best friends, J, had to get himself ordained and registered with the city to officiate our wedding. And I could tell you a laundry list of why it was nearly impossible finding a last minute cocktail venue the same night as The Met Gala! Not to mention, Central Park encourages large groups to apply 30 days in advance for a permit. But because our lucky day was May 1st, everything fell perfectly into place.
Our wedding day couldn’t have been any more perfect. The weather was sunny and in the low 70’s — perfect for a wedding in the park! We were overwhelmed by the amount of people who were able to join us last minute (and on a work day!), including my best friends and family who were able to fly out. We can’t thank you enough! To those of you who weren’t able to join us on this day, we’ll be celebrating with you the next time we meet!
Photography: Forged In The North – We loved their work at Ray’s cousin’s destination wedding and were our first go-to photographers once we figured out our wedding date. To our luck, they weren’t traveling (you should see their calendar!) and Ryan was able to be our photographer! He was really easy to work with considering the last minute changes we had. He got all the photos we had wanted and then some! I’m so in love with our photos and I couldn’t recommend them enough.
Hair & Make Up: Beauty by Loretta – I wouldn’t have trusted anyone else to do my hair and make up for this special day. My hair stayed in place all day and I loved the make up we did. Our pictures look incredible because of her work!
Flowers: Joy’s Flower Pot – Joy’s Flower Pot is a gem in the Lower East Side. I love picking flowers up from Joy’s shop as she has a great assortment always available. I was happy that she agreed to do my bridal bouquet, boutineres, mini bouquets, and corsages! I showed her how I invisioned by bridal bouquet to look like and she created the most beautiful bouquet! I was so in love with the flowers she supplied us!
Ray’s Suit: Enzo Custom – Ray has used Enzo Custom previously for work suits, but the work they did on his wedding suit was impeccable. There were so many little details that they were able to add on — the date under the collar and the monogramed jacket and button down, this suit was truly customized. Enzo was accomodating with our timeline, promising that the suit would be ready in the month’s time. They were even able to schedule a fitting to ensure that the fit was nothing less than perfect. Ray has always enjoyed working with Enzo but even more so after creating this wedding suit.

Mariel’s Dress: Custom by Glamorous Bride NYC – It’s hard to believe that I could have had a custom made dress made in about a month. That actually sounds crazy, but Olga was able to create the dress that I couldn’t get off my mind. I showed her inspiration photos of the dress, selected material together, and had multiple fittings to make sure the dress was becoming what I had dreamed of. She added details to the dress that I’m in love with — the skirt pockets and buttons down my back were the perfect addition to an already beautiful dress. I can’t thank Olga enough for being able to create my dress with the time constraint!
