2016 is soon to be over and there are a handful of beauty and skincare that I plan on carrying over into the new year. This year I made it a point to take better care of my skin – the better looking your skin is, the less you need to cover it up. I got back into a “10-step”skin care routine, integrated weekly sheet masks, and even started drinking a green drinks in the morning! Here’s a few of the products that I tried that either worked for me or failed me in 2016.
Win! Son & Park Beauty Water
This is a two-in-one product, one part toner and other part cleansing water. After cleansing in the a.m. or p.m., I pour a quarter sized amount onto a cotton pad and swipe all over my face. It has helped removed any sort of make up or dirt that my cleanser wasn’t able to remove. It’s refreshing and I actually enjoy the light fragrance it has.
Win! Missha All Around Safe Block Essence Sun SPF 45 PA+++
Sun block is such an important step in any skincare routine. I’ll admit that when I was younger the only time I wore sunscreen was when I was out by the pool. It wasn’t until I moved out of Vegas and started noticing the sunspots or freckles along my nose that I really started to wear sunscreen every day. It took awhile for me to find a sun block that worked for me. This Missha sun block is the current one I’m using and loving. Its lightweight and doesn’t leave a white cast on my face. It doesn’t leave an oily film feeling on my face – it truly feels like any other moisturizer!
Win! Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream SPF 42 PA
My skin has been in such a good state this past year and for the majority of the time, I’ve only been wearing this BB cream. My foundations have taken a back seat to this lightweight, light to mid-coverage BB cream.
Win! Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch
I occasionally break out when I’m PMS-ing so to help, I’ve tried these pimple patches! I wasn’t sure if they’d work at first, but after slapping a patch on overnight and waking up to see the entire pimple gone I became a believer! They work every single time! Since the patch is somewhat translucent, I’ve even gone out with these on during the day.
Fail! Banila Clean It Zero Sherbet Cleanser
I double cleanse at night – meaning I cleanse with an oil cleanser to remove make up/oil and then follow it with a water-based cleanser for an even deeper cleanse. Though I was satisfied with my previous oil cleanser, I figured it was time to try something new. I settled on Banila’s Clean It Zero based on many reviews but once receiving it and using it, I found myself so put off by the fragrance! It’s incredibly artificial smelling that I overlook how well it removes my waterproof mascara. Unfortunately, this was a major fail for me and I’m off to find a new oil cleanser.
Win! Sunday Riley Good Genes
I tried this sample kit of Sunday Riley’s Good Genes and Luna earlier this year and fell in love with it. It wasn’t until I was out of product that I realized how amazing Good Genes had been working on my skin. It helped any discoloration and smoothed out the texture of my skin. I chose not to restock right away due to the price and that’s when my skin had reverted back to how it was pre-Good Genes. You can bet that this was the first on my list when the VIB Rouge sale at Sephora came along!
Fail! Fresh Umbrian Clay Purifying Facial Toner
With the intent to find a new toner and because this one claimed it would help mattify – I gave this toner a try. It wasn’t a bad product, I just wasn’t loving it and the effects that it had on my skin were no different than other toners I had been trying; it really failed at any sort of mattifying or keeping excess oils at bay.
Win! Foreo’s LUNA Mini 2
It’s been about six months since I’ve introduced the LUNA mini 2 into my skincare routine and I’m loving the effects that it has on my skin. I use it in the morning with a gentle foaming cleanser prior to lathering on any skincare or makeup. I’ve noticed that it’s helped reduced whiteheads in my acne prone areas and the battery life on this is insane! I have yet to charge it again and I use this tool about 4 to 5 times a week.
